THE HISTORY OF MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL (MONHS)

 The Misamis Occidental National High School (MONHS),now on its 79th year as an educational institution answers to the needs of the 47 barangays of Oroquieta City and its near by towns and provinces.Then known as Misamis Occidental National High School,it began its operation in June 1938 in a rented old Enerio Building at the corner of Rizal and Barrientos streets.Near the mount of the Layawan River.During it's first year,only the first and second year classes were open with a total of 162 students.It was in school year 1938-1940 that the whole high school curriculum where offered.Then it's operation was temporarily suspended because of the outbreak of World War II.

1. 1. Shortly,after the war,classes were resumed with an enrollment of 798 students.In 1947 the main building was constructed at the present site,bounded by the Capitol Drive,P. Villarin St.,and Osilao St.,in Barangay Poblacion I.The school became a national high school in 1970, through the efforts and benevolence of our leader in the provinces and congress. It was during the administration of Mrs. Elyshea R. Villa that the academic building was constructed in 1979 to replace the old building damage by the 1976 earthquakes.Since then,there have been many changes in the landscapes,and facilities have been continually upgraded to meet the increasing demand to obtain quality education and to keep up with the global trends.

            COMPUTER ROOM
            
            

            There are many kinds of facilities here in Misamis Occidental National High School like Music Room,Dance Room,Theatre Room,Supply Room,SPED Room,Dress Making Room,Computer Room,Media Arts Room,Instrumental Room,Conference Room,MAPEH Faculty Room,and Head Teachers Room.Music Room and Instrumental Room are sometimes the students and teacher using it in the same room.Computers in computer room give each student the opportunity to enhance their understanding of how to use a computer and software programs that are appropriate for their ability level.

            STEM PROGRAM

            
            
            There are four types of programs here in Misamis Occidental National High School.They are Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Program where the students having an exam to get this program,Special Program in the Arts (SPA) Programs where the students audition for being a dancer,singer,theatre,actress/actor and instruments,Special Program in Sports (SPS) Program where students is having contest about sports and Regular Program for those students who didn't pass by the three programs given,Special Program Education (SPED) program classes are also catered by the school to meet the needs of special students

                   There are many kinds of buildings here in Misamis Occidental National High School like Jica and China,Special Program in Sports (SPS), MAPEH,Special Program in the Arts (SPA),Home Economics (HE) and the Main Buildings.Each Building has it's own story that makes it  special with every features in it.
